Ella Langley - Choosin' Texas (Christian Wheel R&B Funk Remix)

This song made some interesting chart accomplishments. It hit # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the Billboard Hot Country Songs, and the Billboard Country Airplay charts all at the same time. It's a "triple-crown," and not only is that exceptionally uncommon, but it's also the first time it's been done by a woman. The song has had a ton of momentum and has become a fixture in both country and mainstream playlists, so I think this could be a cultural moment and not just a radio hit. The original leans into it's country twang proudly, with plenty of steel guitars and slow burning tension. My remix flips the energy more towards a retro-funky-R&B dance floor feel. Tighter pockets, more bounce, and more energy on the downbeat. I also brought the tempo up from 112 to 120 BPM. This is a bigger departure than a lot of my pop remixes, because country music purists might hear this remix as sacrilege, and I totally get that. So as I say so often: KNOW YOUR ROOM! In a honky-tonk set, this remix will probably land wrong. In a mainstream environment, at the right time, this remix could hit with a familiar chorus and a brand new pulse.
